  • The companies specializing in core technologies in the fourth industrial revolution are quickly converting to new and renewable energy.

    Many famous IT companies of the world regard the fourth industrial revolution as an opportunity to change nuclear power to new and renewable energy because the former lacks in economic benefits and safety. The world‟s famous companies, over the last decade, have converted 18GW to new and renewable energy, which equals to 18 units of nuclear power. From the world‟s perspective, 111 companies declared use of new and renewable energy up to 100%. Not only internet services companies such as Facebook but also automotive companies such as BMW and TaTa Motors joined such a trend.

Anti-global Warming Campaign through Culture and Campaign
  • <350 Campaign> to prevent global warming in which 188 companies take to reduce the density of carbon dioxide to 350 ppm. The Korea Green Foundation has devised and implemented various campaigns and performances such as press campaign, corporate social responsibility and supporters‟ activities with youth in order to increase awareness of climate change and promote actions. We will do our best for more people to take climate issues as their own problems.
Donation of Green Bikes
  • In April 2015, the Korea Green Foundation repaired waste bikes abandoned in Korea in order to provide environment-friendly traffic means to people in Myanmar where air pollution is severe. The beneficiaries include six youth facilities in Mandalay, Myanmar including Dobin Orphanage. 2,282 juveniles in Myanmar now can use bikes.

Asia Solar Power Light Project "Sharing Ten Thousands of the Sun"
"That you can use energy sustainably and efficiently
in energy-poor countries is directly related
to the national development." Global Energy Poverty, IEA 2011

The barrier selected by the International Energy Agency (IEA) to block the national development is „Energy Poverty‟. The Korea Green Foundation conceived an idea for children who had lost their future due to absence of electricity. What is the method to use the light sustainably and consistently without a worry about electricity bills while offering light right away? The answer is the solar power-based light! Green Foundation has carried out “the Asia-Pacific Light Support Project” that offers 10,000 lights of natural energy from the sun for Asian countries which have no electricity since 2012. We provided environment-friendly solar power-based lights to 10,000 households in eight Asian countries including Nepal, Mongolia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Myanmar, which was to help children to dream about their future through learning without worries about respiratory diseases and fuel costs.

  • In July 2014, about 22 tons of rainwater processing facilities were offered to kindergartens and elementary schools, enabling 380 kindergarten children and 260 students to have safe drinking water and realize the value of rainwater resources.

  • In November 2015, we provided rainwater processing facilities which could process 19 tons of rainwater to An Nghĩa Elementary School. 325 children attended the elementary school. 649 students including 100 kindergarten children and 224 middle school students who were subject to temporary school closure due to construction of the school building then could have clean drinking water.

  • In May 2017, the rainwater processing facilities were completed. The facilities enabled 733 students of Pejagalan Middle School to take clean drinking water and washing water. Northern Jakarta is often submerged in rain. The facilities will be used as an emergency water supply to surrounding villages where school electricity and water supply are disabled upon a flood.
Eco-village Project
  • The Korea Green Foundation has been with neighbors from Asian neighbors such as Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia and Nepal since 2006. The foundation made wells for people who suffered from lack of drinking water. It built a rainwater processing facility along with village people so that they could make wells and used rainwater for economic and healthy life of the villagers. Also, since 2012, it has shared solar power-based lights to Asian villages with insufficient power infrastructure. At the same time, the foundation began to be concerned about lives of neighbors who suffered from climatic changes such as disasters including floods, typhoons and earthquakes.

    Safe excavation, education for future and sustainable job… We started with the determination „to make a sustainable development model of communities‟, such as education, drinking water and eco-tour so that local residents could wisely take measures to disasters out of climatic change.

The major keywords of new and renewable 3020 (new and renewable energy development by 20% by 2030) of the Jae-in Moon Administration with a focus on 'de-nuclearization' and 'environment-friendly replacement energy policies' are „safety‟ and „environment‟ and the major contents are as follows: •Supply 63.8GW of facility volume (cumulative) by 2030
•Increase ratios of solar power and wind power up to 80% with new installations
•Yearly average installation: increase from 1.7GW to 3.8GW
•Designation of industrial complex to increase ratios of solar power and wind power
•Cultivation of domestic industrial ecosystem, export support and other benefits such as tax deduction

CA ▶ CARBON

The members of the Kyoto Protocol must decrease carbon dioxide emission by 5% based on the average in 1990 by 2012. Countries or companies failing to meet the requirement shall purchase carbon emission rights from external sources. In other words, if the Kyoto Protocol takes effect and amount of greenhouse gas is decided by country, companies will also be subject to a certain amount of regulations. Then, companies emitting a large amount of carbon dioxide shall reduce emissions based on technological development to reduce energy or buy the rights from other companies with excess emission rights due to their small amount of emission.

“16% of the world‟s power generation will come from solar power by 2050” The Jae-in Moon Administration recently announced that it will increase domestic solar power generation, currently at 5.7GW in total to 36.5GW by 2030. The danger of nuclear power generation, depletion of fossil fuels and CO2 issues make the future prospective of solar power generation brighter. Solar power is the governmental policy as well as a subject of international agreements. Moreover, solar power is generated limitlessly from the nature. Technology will keep developing while cost will keep falling, making the solar power market develop unheeded. As of end of December, 2017, monthly profit out of 100KW solar power generation is about 2.5~3 million Won. A profit of monthly 15% per 200 million Won of investment will be secured. The module warranty is available for twenty five years. Later, then, power generation may fall. However, profitability will increase even more if operation continues. During the period, power will be sold to the state through the Korea Electric Power Corporation exchange, making stability of profits maintained continually. If an Energy Storage System (ESS) is installed, the profit will increase five-fold. This means that solar power generation is not only stable but also more profitable than other businesses in terms of return on investment.
